FEATURED PROJECTS-DETAILS
Montréal Police Service – Command & Information Processing Centre
The Montréal Police Service, officially known as Service de Police Ville de Montréal (SPVM), is the second largest municipal police force in Canada, serving the entire island of Montréal. The SPVM’s Command & Information Processing Centre monitors their CCTV networks and identifies situations of civil unrest in the region and swiftly dispatches and directs the city’s police force accordingly.
With the new monitor system which was designed, integrated and commissioned by Applied Electronics, the operations staff not only is able to simultaneously access a greater quantity of information, including video, audio, geometrics and computer data in order to analyze pertinent information for effective and quick group decision-making, but can now monitor three events at once – something that was not possible previously.
The Center features 34 workstations positioned in four rows facing a large 2x6 array video wall of 84” display screens. The rear-screen projectors are purpose-built for control room applications and the display wall controller manages each projector and positions images in various dimensions on the screens. Each screen can be subdivided into four to display different inputs such as maps, TV news broadcasts, surveillance cameras, other computer data and video feeds. The system also gives the control staff the ability to combine multiple screens to show one large image across the entire width or partial width of the wall. Applied Electronics also custom fabricated the rear projection mirror housing structure for this system.
