FEATURED PROJECTS-DETAILS
The Shaw Festival Theatre
The Shaw Festival, located in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, is the only theatre in the world that specializes exclusively in plays by Bernard Shaw and the defined historic period of 1856-1950. For their play, “Mack and Mabel” – a musical about the movies – the theatre wanted a large backdrop that would offer creative production flexibility.
The Festival Theatre contracted AEL to design, supply and install a projection system that would allow any range of images to be displayed in the background to depict the setting for certain scenes in the play. The rear projection system consisted of 2 Christie Digital DS+5K high resolution, high brightness (6500 lumens), high contrast, photo-realistic colour 3-chip DLP projectors with the ability to edge-blend and tile. The built-in Christie Digital blending software creates a 16 ft. high x 24 ft. wide image with an overall pixel resolution of 2800x1050. The system is driven by a computer with a dual head output card and future provision to implement a Vista multi-image video processor system.
