FEATURED PROJECTS-DETAILS
The Vancouver Aquarium
Located in Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium is home to over 70,000 animals from the Arctic to the Amazon. It is dedicated to the conservation of aquatic life through display and interpretation, education, research and direct action.
The Aquarium contracted AEL in the summer of 2007 to design, supply and install audio/visual equipment in its Environmental Newsroom, Goldcorp Ocean Theatre, boardrooms and classrooms. Integrated in the Environmental Newsroom were four large-format Draper wrap-around screens with Christie Digital projectors. The mirror structure and mounting structures were custom-built by AEL, with one of the screens setup in portrait orientation. The Aquarium uses these screens to educate guests on the latest conservation news and aquatic information. The Goldcorp Ocean Theatre is used for presentations, private events and visitor programming and utilizes an Extron matrix switcher, with outputs routed over Cat5e, and is controlled by a wireless Crestron control system through a remote touch panel. This matrix allows the client flexibility with the images displayed on each screen. The sound system includes JBL speakers and a Crown amplifier.
