Confederation College – “Knowledge Network” Project
AEL is very proud to have been chosen as the integrator for new facilities at Confederation College, the purpose of which will be to implement the “Knowledge Network” project, a two-phase initiative focused on finding long-term solutions to developing a competitive workforce in Northern Ontario. Local investors in this project include NOHFC, Union Gas, Weyerhaeuser, Thunder Bay District Catholic School Board, and Lakehead District School Board. AEL partnered heavily with Panasonic on this project.
The first phase “Energy Connections” is designed to strengthen employment opportunities for youth by providing support programs and educational opportunities in the energy sector. The new “Sky Pack” unit is a portable, totally digital broadcast production facility. The portable facility features remotely-controlled cameras, as well as a recording, editing and camera-switching facility that can be set up or torn down in only one hour, totally run by one person. The equipment package will be used as part of the new “energy Connections” project giving the ability to teach from some very unique, specialized locations to a wide audience of learners in Northwestern Ontario. The heart of the “Sky Pack” is a GlobalStreams GlobeCaster virtual set television studio.
