Project Implementation Lead - Toronto, Ontario
Applied Electronics Limited is a growing company that sells, installs and services broadcast and audio visual electronics and systems. Applied Electronics employs approximately 100 employees in 5 offices across Canada.We are currently looking for a Project Implementation Lead to join our Broadcast Systems Group. The successful candidate will work in our head office in Mississauga.
This key position within our organization requires a Broadcast professional with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in designing/integrating complex Broadcast systems. This individual should have a good overall understanding of broadcast systems and the components which go into building and integrating systems for the television, cable, telco, and specialty markets. In this ever changing industry, knowledge of IT based infrastructure, current broadcast software systems, and audio/video control systems is necessary.
The ideal candidate is a team-oriented individual with a strong self-directed work ethic along with effective time management skills. This individual will be required to work in an autonomous atmosphere and be able to effectively allocate resources in order to fulfill numerous demands. The ability to effectively communicate with AEL Senior Management, Sales/Installation Teams & Project Managers is critical to the success of this position. Building and maintaining relationships is key so this person will need to ensure that their team and customers are kept apprised of project progress, challenges & constraints, and areas of opportunity.
This position will report directly the Manager, Broadcast Systems, with a secondary report to the Manager, Engineering.
Primary Role:
This position holds overall responsibility for implementing projects and bringing them to a successful conclusion.
The main responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to:
? Hands on Project Management of multiple projects which includes:
- Leading the design team throughout the design phase of a project.
- Devising a project plan outlining critical dates, milestones and timeline.
- Managing all aspects of the project build including allocating and supervising resources during the installation, commissioning, testing and deficiency phases of the project as well as participating in the build.
- Providing detailed weekly reports outlining the status of active projects.
- Managing the change order process.
- Providing as-built and close out documentation upon project completion.
- Managing the deficiency report and tracking outstanding issue to project completion.
? Participating in equipment preparation, installation, commissioning, and testing.
? Composing drawings in Visio or CADD as required.
? Researching equipment for projects and provide technical specifications and solutions.
? Actively participating in personal & professional development & maintaining knowledge of current & new technologies.
? Promoting a team environment & complying with company policies & Health & Safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
? Broadcast electronics and/or engineering education with a post-secondary institution.
? 7-10 years of experience in system design and/or system integration.
? Strong Microsoft Office skills- Outlook, Word, Excel.
? Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Visio drawing tools.
? Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
? Ability to manage multiple tasks & work under pressure while adhering to project schedules.
? Ability to work varied hours including evenings and weekends, and out of town.
? Possession of a valid Canadian driver?s license and current travel documents.

Audio Visual System Programmer - Calgary, Alberta
Applied Electronics Limited is a growing company that sells, installs and services broadcast and audio visual electronics and systems. AEL employs approximately 100 employees in 5 offices across Canada.This key position within our organization requires a candidate with demonstrated strong programming experience, specifically with Crestron or AMX Control Systems and various DSP products.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented A/V professional with a strong self-directed work ethic, along with effective time management skills. The ability to work under pressure while adhering to project schedules and deadlines is required.
This individual will need to be able to effectively communicate with AEL Senior Management, Sales/Installation Team and clients as it is critical to the success of this position.
Primary Role: Provide higher level control system programming expertise and technical support to the A/V Sales and Installation teams as well as the client.
Key Responsibilities:
? Provide complete audio visual control system programming services based on client need and project goals. This includes pre-installation system design, on-site integration and testing.
? Conduct technical review of RFP & sales quotations to ensure solution will provide intended system functionality.
? Review As-built documentation from Installation Team for technical accuracy prior to CAD submission.
? Advanced system program trouble shooting on-site following established commissioning and sign off processes, and after-sales end-user support.
? Provide Technical Support to Sales & Installation Teams as required.
? Provide programming specific support to clients as requested.
? Actively participate in programming workshops to enhance professional development & maintain knowledge of current & new technology offered by Applied Electronics Ltd.
Qualifications:
? Post-secondary education from a recognized institution in Electronics Engineering, Broadcast, Telecom or other industry-related programs.
? Minimum 5 years of industry experience in Crestron programming achieving at minimum the Intermediate Crestron Programming qualification and DCM-E certification. Equivalent AMX certification would be considered.
? Strong working knowledge of audio, video, control & current technology trends.
? Preference given to candidates with industry recognized IP Network Certifications and CTS-D industry certification.
? Preference given to candidates proficient in operational use of Visio or AutoCAD drawing tools.
? Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Audio Visual Project Manager, Montreal

The AV Project Manager must be able to efficiently manage multiple tasks and possess strong verbal & written communication skills in order to ensure the successful integration of our Audio Visual Systems. Proficiency in all aspects of audio visual systems as well as an advanced understanding of electrical/mechanical infrastructure and general construction techniques is required.
The main responsibility of this position is the efficient management of the company?s audio visual projects. Secondary responsibilities include design and sales support. As the primary on-site AEL representative, you will be responsible for ensuring that our projects, engineering & installation processes are adhered to and documented. Key priorities include coordination with Supervisors, administration & sales staff as well as the preparation of installation materials & scheduling of technical support for installation team. We are looking to this position to provide the leadership needed to create a positive experience for our customer through consistent communication.
The ideal candidate will possess the following specific requirements: ? Post-Secondary Education in Electronics Technology or equivalent

The main duties of this position are as follows, but not limited to:
A) Project Management:
? Review project design, SOW, equipment list and initial drawings, ensuring technical accuracy prior to commencement of equipment ordering
? Provide project labour estimate summaries, target start/finish dates and any critical milestones to supervisor, administration and sales staff for project scheduling purposes
? Ensure creation of cable run lists, equipment rack layout and project installation materials lists following standard AEL nomenclature
? Ensure complete project hand-off package is available for installation resources prior to project start-up
? Through communication with the client, identify project schedule critical milestones, monitor progress and take corrective action to maintain schedule as required
? Monitor AEL and contractor resources for proper allocation & efficiency while on-site
? Meet regularly with Supervisor and Administration to ensure that project costs are meeting estimates as project progresses
? Provide regular progress updates to client and ensure all concerns are addressed
? Ensure installation tasks are completed using Best Practice techniques, consistent with AEL?s standards
? Maintain Change Order System updates in conjunction with Administration
? Supervise testing/commissioning of completed systems in coordination with client/consultant
? Develop, manage and communicate deficiency report and track outstanding items for completion
? Use as-built documentation to modify drawings if required
? Work with Supervisor, Administration and Sales to ensure any unused project equipment/materials are returned from job site to AEL warehouse and properly documented for return to manufacturer or return to stock
? Participate in Project Post-Mortem reviews with Supervisor, Administration and Sales as required
A) Design:
? Provide Conceptual design, Bloc diagram, Detailed design of AV systems according to the phase of the project ? Analyze and understand client needs in order to design systems which best suit the application ? Research equipment for projects and provide technical specifications
A) Sales Support:
? Support technical sales team with system design suggestions and share installation successes & failures
? Review proposals for technical accuracy and intended functionality
? Conduct pre-proposal/pre-install site inspections and document site conditions & requirements
