Mississauga, Ontario - June 2, 2008 – Not too many family-owned companies experience 50 successful years in business. Applied Electronics' owners, Paul Stechly, Susan Stechly and John Stechly, are very proud to be able to sincerely thank their employees who, after all, made Applied Electronics what it is today.

In 1958, the late Michael Stechly officially registered the small company as "Applied Electronics Limited". Michael represented a small number of products which were marketable in the fledgling Canadian radio and television industry. He picked up several more product lines and in 1967 added a systems design and build capability which today represents a large part of the company's business.

Michael sadly passed away with cancer in 1985. Applied Electronics is now owned and managed by Michael's children, Susan, Paul and John. From 5 employees in 1967, it has grown to nearly 100 in 2008. Applied Electronics has offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, with its head office in Toronto.
