NTV Celebrates Skylink-1, September 2, 2008 back to recent news
Mississauga, Ontario - September 2, 2008 – The folks at NTV in St. John's have a new asset with which to serve the communities of Newfoundland and Labrador: Skylink-1.
NTV's Sprinter ENG van was delivered by Applied Electronics and Frontline Communications in Spring 2007. Almost immediately, NTV decided they also needed to add digital satellite uplink capability to the vehicle. But they really didn't want to return the van to Frontline's facilities in Clearwater, Florida. Never let a challenge be an obstacle!
Applied Electronics and Frontline collaborated to have the DSNG systems added in St. John's - right in NTV's warehouse. The gear was shipped and Frontline dispatched a team of three to take on the task at hand. A 1.8 metre Vertex antenna is mounted snugly atop the Sprinter with signals powered upward via a 400 watt HPA. Skylink-1 is on the road now, bringing the close-knit peoples of the NTV broadcast area even closer together.
Frontline Communications engineers and manufactures custom broadcast vehicles and mobile command centers designed for Microwave electronic news gathering transmission, Satellite Uplink - Downlink, Video Production applications, and Communications and Homeland Security Command and Control.
